Labor Day at Wheaton Park

Share
Am I the only Pagan in the DC Metro area who didn't know about the super awesome botanical gardens at Wheaton Regional Park? This place is right down the street from my house and I just happened to walk over there because I was bored. In the small section I was able to explore, I found rolling hills, rare plants and flowers, ponds, a lake, a shinto "temple", a labyrinth, and a butterfly garden. It was one of the most beautiful places I've been to in my entire life and its right down the street from me. The photos below were taken with my awful camera phone, but you'll get the general idea.

I think I'm going to plan a field trip to head out there again with the Fireflies, so be on the lookout for plans for that. It also looks like they have some great volunteer opportunities, which would be a fabulous opportunity for us Pagans to you know- be in nature for once? What a novel idea!

  1. ...I did not know that place had a labyrinth. My riding barn is down the street from it...pretty much literally.

(It IS public transit accessible, albeit somewhat awkwardly...)
