Conjure Magic Comes to Baltimore

The following is from contributor Maria Aquila

On Sunday, author Orion Foxwood presented the Crossroads Spirit of Conjure and Hoodoo at Crystals, Candles and Cauldrons in Baltimore. Through the lore and stories, the lecture presented a history of conjure magic as it developed throughout the American South.

The 20 attendees also learned about the spirit that lives at the crossroads–known as Papa Leba, the Devil, and the Dark Rider–and how to work with him.  Throughout the lecture, students were given hands-on practical experience and information to use as tools in their own work. The lecture concluded with a group working with the Dark Rider. After the presentation, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and converse with the author while music by Robert Johnson, a blues singer and guitarist who sang about the cross roads in the 1930s played in the background.
