DC Community Members at Pagan Spirit Gathering‏

This post comes to us from contributor Iris Firemoon who is reporting directly from Pagan Spirit Gathering in Illinois.

Earlville, IL - On Tuesday, four Circle Santuary ministers were ordained by Rev. Selena Fox at he 2011 Pagan Spirit Gathering. Among those being elevated were leaders in the DC region. Debby Morris from Maryland was ordained, along with Dawnwalker. Jeanet and David Ewing from the Northern Virginia Pagan Nextwork were scheduled to be ordained on on June 22nd as well, but a family emergency meant they needed to leave the festival early. All four newly ordained ministers work in military ministry, and this was the first time Circle has had a military ministry ordination. Best wishes to all those newly ordained.

The thoughts of the DC Pagan community are with Jeanet in her time of need.  We are so sorry for your loss.

Redneck Altar
Also facilitated by Debby Morris and Zan was the Redneck Ritual. Instead of "So Mote It Be" participants hollared "Get eR Done!"  Participants were yelled at by Rednecks dressed to the Redneck 9's to enter the circle through the "pink chickens" (flamingos).  A ribbiting frog welcomed folks as they crossed the threshold.  The High Priest of the ritual was decided at the PSG morning meeting by a belching contest.  Cakes and ale consisted of moon pies and RC Cola.  Dale Earnhardt Sr. was the god invoked along with Trailer Trash Barbie.  And, Debby lead us in a guided meditation on "You might be a Redneck Pagan, if..."  It was a hysterical and entertaining ritual.  A lot of planning went into this ritual, and it has become a yearly tradition at the festival.  Thank you, Debby, Zan, and other planners for putting so much thought into this event.
