Building infrastructure and providing activities to a thirsty spiritual community is more important now than ever before. This issue's featured group does just that.
Northern Virginia Pagan Pathseekers
This feature's spotlight is the Northern Virginia Pagan Pathseekers. The group was founded in September of 2010. After the original founder stepped down after a few months, Reston resident Michael Moonsage stepped in to take the lead.
NVPP can be found hosting study sessions at Esoterica and Sticks and Stones, but also expands to other locations around the region for special events like park cleanups and festivals. But that's not all, go check out the NVPP meetup site and you can see for yourself just how busy they are.
Behind the Scenes
Michael Moonsage is always hard at work creating study programs and events for the NVPP. This on top of his work with his own coven (Coven of the Spiral Moon) and volunteering for the Open Hearth Foundation and NOVA Pagan Pride. Here's a little more about Michael in his own words:
"It wasn't until about 13 years into my practice (late 2010), that I took the step to come out of the proverbial broom closet, and began to get involved in the local Pagan community. I haven't looked back, and this calling of service and community has motivated and driven my ambitions since I came out into the public arena. I have immense visions and dreams for this community, and in establishing a place at the table of world religions for the spiritual path that has brought me to the place I am at today. It is one of my largest goals to strengthen this community, to the point where we begin to see Pagan & Wiccan churches, temples, and sanctuaries pop up throughout the region. With all of the craziness going on in the world, and a lack of support and welcoming, inclusive philosophies through many of the mainstream religions, it is my hope to provide an alternative to those that are searching for a community that is accepting regardless of what makes up the individual. I walk through this world with an open mind, an open heart, and a desire to help those in need. "
