Despite being in a well-populated urban area, the DC region doesn't often get big name authors and leaders in the Pagan community visiting us. If you've lamented over this in the past, you're in luck! Both John Michael Greer and T. Thorn Coyle will be visiting us around the same time in October. Unfortunately, you will probably have to chose who you'd like to see more, as some of their events overlap. Here's the layout of their current tour:
John Michael Greer
John Michael Greer is the Grand Archdruid of the Ancient Order of Druids in America and the author of more than twenty books on a wide range of subjects, including The Long Descent: A User's Guide to the End of the Industrial Age, The Ecotechnic Future: Exploring a Post-Peak World, and the forthcoming The Wealth of Nature: Economics As If Survival Mattered.
Saturday, October 8 - Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church
Greer will speak on nature spirituality, peak oil and the coming changes to our society. Refreshments and a chance to talk to the author one on one will follow the presentation.
Saturday, October 8 - Sacred Circle Books
Book signing and discussion for this new book, Apocalypse Not: Everything You Know About 2012, Nostradamus and the Rapture is Wrong.
T. Thorn Coyle
Thorn is an internationally respected teacher and mentor, she is the author of Kissing the Limitless and Evolutionary Witchcraft, hosts the Elemental Castings podcast series, writes a popular weblog, Know Thyself, and has produced several CDs of sacred music. Her spiritual direction practice – which includes soul reading, and body/spirit coaching – reaches people all over the world. Pagan, mystic, and activist, she is founder and head of Solar Cross Temple and Morningstar Mystery School and lives by the San Francisco Bay.
Thursday, October 6 - Breathe Books
Evening class.
Over and over, we have a wish. Over and over, we court a desire. Over and over, we seek greater health, success, depth, joy, or love. What is required for success? First of all, we need to look at the stories we tell ourselves. Second, we can examine our magick: the flow of energy from idea, to intention, toward manifestation. This talk will take us through the concepts of Commitment, Honor, Truth, Strength, and Compassion, and help us with some exercises and ideas to build our will, and walk toward more integrated and steady success, helping our lives so we in turn, can help the world toward greater justice, greater beauty, and deeper healing.
Saturday, October 8 - 9 - Blueberry Gardens
There is work that only you can bring to the world through your life, your dreams, your hands, your voice, your heart. You make manifest this magic, and help weave the cosmos in all its shining beauty. What are you willing to risk in order to live the life your heart desires? How can you tune into your own divine nature and shape your destiny? Tap into spirit, sex, and life, and listen: What is the song of your soul? What is the longing pumping through your cells? What is your life's purpose and your True Will? How can you tune into your own divine nature and shape your destiny? Once we understand our Divine Work, our lives take on new energy, connection and significance: We are literally creating the cosmos.
We will have someone at John's book signing and someone at Thorn's weekend intensive and will report on those in a couple of weeks. For more information, visit the host websites.
- Don't Forget: The deadline to participate in our free book contest is Saturday!
